Anyim Ude, renowned broadcaster and ex-senator, is dead

Anyim Ude, a legendary broadcaster and a former senator representing Ebonyi south, is dead.

In a statement on Thursday, Nnanna Ude, his son, said his father died on Monday but did not give details on cause of death.

He was 82.

“It is with heavy hearts but total gratitude to the Almighty God that our family announces the passing of our dearly beloved father, Senator (Elder) Anyim Chukwu Ude, MON,” the younger Ude said.

“Born on June 1, 1941, he departed this world and joined the saints on Monday, May 15, 2023.

“Details of arrangements for the celebration of his life will be announced by the family as we seek your prayers for the repose of his soul to eternal life in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The broadcaster was elected to the senate in 2007.

Before his foray into politics, Ude had a successful career as a reporter beginning from 1965 when he joined the Nigerian Outlook.

He has worked at East Central State Broadcasting Service (ECBS), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Imo Broadcasting Service (IBS) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

The broadcaster was appointed Ebonyi commissioner of commerce in 1999.
