The All Progressives Congress (APC) says Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president-elect, never promised to end insurgency within two months.
The party faulted reports quoting Buhari as making that promise, saying the party’s flag bearer at last week presidential election has not given a time frame for tackling insecurity in the northeast.
“The president-elect is still waiting to be sworn in on May 29. After the ceremony, he would need time to study the security situation and plan strategically with the security chiefs as to the way forward,” Garba Shehu, director of media and publicity, APC presidential campaign, said in a statement.
“Time is of essence here. Therefore, President Buhari didn’t and wouldn’t peg the decimation of terrorism within two months.

“The general was unequivocal about cleansing Boko Haram from our land; he would do a good job of it by giving a final permanent push to rid Nigeria of unscrupulous elements.
“It would be unfair and mischievous for someone to ascribe to him what he hasn’t said.”
During many of his nationwide campaigns, Buhari said insurgency would be a thing of the past if he was elected into office.

GMB actually mentioned 2 months n his interview with Amanpour
No right thinking Nigerian should be surprised that Buhari and his spin doctors have started the bleaching work. The white must be bleached until it turns white and the red turned into black. The Abracadabra the magic word has begun to disappear from their lips and they seem to be suggesting that they have lost the magic wand. The more you see and hear the more it is unrealistic and undo-able. The immediate economic revamping and the promise of 2,000,000 jobs in six months has now become unattainable. Their Voodoo electioneering promises of one square meal to every Nigerian child who is registered and attends any institution of learning is now in jeopardy. The free education for all Nigerian children and social welfare payment is now elusive. The One Naira par to One Dollar has suddenly become a mirage. The chest beating and boisterous boastful promise of annihilating Boko Haram within two months of his accession of office is now denied and blamed on mischief makers attempt to blackmail Buhari. There are many more promises and there will be many more denunciation and denials to follow. Nigerians must prepare and be ready to confront the inevitable disappointment and sorrow that lies ahead. You ask for it and you got it.
