APC chieftain: Adebayo Adelabu worked against Tinubu in 2023 election

Kehinde Olaosebikan, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo, says Adebayo Adelabu, the minister of power, worked against the election of President Bola Tinubu in 2023.

He added that the Oyo state chapter of the APC is being “unfairly” treated by the Tinubu administration.

Olaosebikan served as the chief press secretary to Lam Adesina, an ex-governor of Oyo state.

He was the coordinator of the media and publicity activities of Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign in Oyo state and in the south-west.

The APC chieftain, in a statement, said the Oyo APC and presidential campaign council in the state worked hard for the success of Tinubu and the party during the polls.

“Yes, we made this happen. We mobilised and gathered the highest number of people for a presidential campaign in the history of Oyo State, exactly a year ago,” he said.

“It was unprecedented. Having strenuously worked round the clock campaigning for our presidential candidate in Oyo state.

“APC was able to deliver all the 33 local government areas in the state with the highest votes and margin in the entire south-west to President Tinubu.”

Tinubu was declared the winner of the presidential election in Oyo state after he polled 449,884 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 182,977 and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who secured 99,110.

Olaosebikan said Oyo APC was not rewarded after the 2023 presidential election.

He said Adelabu, who is representing the state in Tinubu’s cabinet, was the governorship candidate of Accord Party in the last election.

Olaosebikan claimed that leaders of the Accord Party in the state told their members to vote for the party’s presidential candidate and not for Tinubu.

“But sadly, and in the most unfair arrangements, the person representing Oyo state in the Tinubu cabinet today was the leader and guber candidate of Accord, one of the parties that gave Tinubu’s candidacy the toughest opposition in the media, on the streets and during the polls,” he added.

“Thanks to Facebook for reminding me of this blatant injustice and unfairness to the APC family in Oyo state.

“We are, however, still loyal and committed to the party and tirelessly working and praying for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s government.
