APC ex-senators: Presidential tribunal’s verdict affirmed trust Nigerians have in judiciary

A group of former lawmakers known as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Non-Serving Senators says the verdict delivered by the presidential tribunal affirmed the trust that citizens have in the judicial arm of government.

On Wednesday, the tribunal affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu in February’s general election.

The court affirmed Tinubu’s victory after dismissing the petitions of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) respectively.

In a statement on Sunday, Basheer Lado, a former Kano senator and convener of the group, said Nigerians should support the current administration to address the challenges confronting the country.

“The APC Non-Serving Senators Group commends the members of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) for their exemplary dedication and thorough deliberation that led to a landmark ruling affirming the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima,” Lado said.

“This ruling by the PEPT reaffirms the trust and confidence that Nigerians have in the judiciary as the bedrock of our democracy.

“The commitment to upholding the rule of law and delivering a just decision is commendable, and it strengthens our democracy.”
