APC governors meet in Abuja — weeks after s’court verdict on LG autonomy

APC governors

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are currently holding a closed-door meeting in Abuja.

The meeting is the first by the governors since the judgment of the supreme court on LGA financial autonomy.

The agenda of the meeting is not immediately known, but TheCable understands that the governors are likely to discuss issues concerning the supreme court judgment, new minimum wage implementation, and the planned nationwide protest slated for August 1.

In June, the governors said the N60,000 minimum wage offer proposed by the federal government was not sustainable.

They argued that implementing such a wage would result in many states allocating their entire monthly federation account disbursements solely to salary payments.

They urged the tripartite committee to agree on a fair and sustainable minimum wage.
