Leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would meet on Tuesday to resolve the crisis that rocked the party after the emergence of the principal officers of the eight assembly.
APC initially kicked against the election of Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as senate president and speaker of the house of reps, threatening to sanction them via appropriate party rules for going against the decision of the party to have Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamia for the respective offices.
However, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, governor of Nasarawa state, said a meeting has been fixed to resolve the issue.
“Already, we, the party leaders, caucus and BoT, have been invited for the meeting, which I believe is a way forward in finding a lasting solution to the problem,” he told journalists in Lafia, capital of Nasarawa, on Sunday.

“I am optimistic that after the meeting, the party will come out stronger and united than ever.
“We consider Bukola Saraki, Mohammed Lawan, Yakubu Dogara, and Femi Gbajabiamila as brothers.
“There is nothing abnormal about what happened; it is politics because the APC is a conglomerate of different interests. I consider what happened in NASS as something natural and in spite of the bad blood generated during the elections, we will remain one family.”

John Oyegun, chairman of the party, had earlier said that APC had accepted what happened at the assembly last Tuesday as “a reality that we must live with“.
“We have a reality and we must live with it. It is not the first or second time we have passed through this kind scenario and we came out strong. This may not even be the last time; we come out every time stronger and more determined,” he told state house correspondents on Friday.
