The court of appeal in Sokoto state has sacked Abubakar Tambuwal as senator representing Sokoto south.
The court also sacked Aliyu Shehu, member of the house of representatives, representing Bodinga/Dange Shuni/Tureta federal constituency.
Both men, who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), were declared winners of the election in the zones by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and affirmed by a tribunal.
But the appeal court upturned the decision, declaring Ibrahim Danbaba (senate) and Balarabe Kakale (house) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winners of the election.

The PDP candidates had filed petitions before the Sokoto state election petition tribunal challenging the victory of Tambuwal and Shehu.
The tribunal, however, dismissed their petitions on the grounds that they could not prove the issues raised in them with satisfactory evidence.
The PDP candidates subsequently filed an appeal before the appellate court challenging the judgement of the tribunal.
