Charles Oko Enya, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi state, has withdrawn the suit he filed seeking an order for the amendment of the constitution to allow President Muhammadu Buhari a third term in office.
Enya, who served as the organising secretary of the Buhari campaign in the 2019 general election, filed the suit (FHC/AI/CS/90/19) at a federal high court in Abakiliki, the state capital.
He approached the court seeking an order for the amendment of section 137(1) (b) and 182 (1) (b) of the 1999 constitution (as amended) to allow the president and state governors a third term in office.
But he withdrew the suit on Wednesday after threats of expulsion by the leadership of the APC.

The party had accused Enya of being sponsored by the opposition.
When the matter was called for hearing on Wednesday, Iheanachor Agboti, counsel to Enya, made a request to withdraw the suit.
“I have the instruction of my client to withdraw the suit so as to allow further consultation”, he said.

Consequently, Akintayo Aluko, the presiding judge, struck out the case.
“Upon the application of the learned counsel for the applicant for the withdrawal of this suit, I say may the case be struck out,” Aluko ruled.
