Sylva, Ahmad Yerima on APC panel screening 1,973 n’assembly aspirants

Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has inaugurated a screening and appeals committees for aspirant vying for seats in the national assembly.

The inauguration took place at the national secretariat of the APC on Thursday.

Three hundred and eighty-six (386) aspirants will compete to clinch the party’s ticket across the different senatorial districts before slugging it out with other candidates of other political parties at the 2019 polls.

The senate has 109 seats.

At the house of representatives level, 1,587 aspirants will compete with each other to fly the party’s flag at the 2019 polls.

The lower legislative chamber has 360 seats.

Timipre Sylva, former Bayelsa governor; Ahmed Yerima, senator representing Zamfara west; and Sharon Ikeazor, executive secretary Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD); are among those who were named chairmen of committees.

Others are Oserheimen Osunbor, former governor of Edo; and Bukar Abba Ibrahim, former governor of Yobe state; Ken Nnamani, former senate president.
