Abdulfatai Buhari, senator representing Oyo north, says he fully supports the emergence of a Yoruba president in 2023.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) senator also said the restructuring of the country will address its numerous challenges.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Buhari said he does not believe in the calls for secession, adding that it would only lead to “war within war”.
The senator said a better country would not be achieved in an atmosphere of war, adding that dialogue should take the place of violence.

“I don’t believe in secession; restructuring, I believe in it so much,” NAN quoted the chairman of the senate committee on land transport as saying.
“Yoruba presidency I am 100 percent, I believe in what is called rotational, it’s just fairness.
“If you say democracy is a game of numbers, I agree, but there is what is called a situation for the right place and where you find yourself. Secession does not bring peace, but war within war.”

To further buttress his call for restructuring, the senator said some states got more funds than others from the Paris Club refund.
“I am a member of a particular committee that goes through the refund of the Paris Club, Rivers got N45 billion; Bayelsa got N43 billion; Ondo and Osun got N4 billion each. So, there is a need for restructuring,” the senator said.
“But it is not the way we are going about it; it is not by force. We need to talk to each other. We need to talk to people with facts.”
The senator added that kidnapping would stop when there are “serious” punishments in place.
