The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue state has suspended Barnabas Gemade, a former senator, over alleged anti-party activities.

NAN quoted Austin Agada, chairman of the party in the state, as announcing the suspension at an APC stakeholders’ meeting on Wednesday.

Agada said Terhemba Shija, a former house of representatives member, and some ward officials were also suspended from the party for allegedly working against the APC during the elections.

The chairman said the two politicians – who were governorship aspirants – went to court “to ensure the party loses at the polls”, adding that the case has been referred to a panel to determine if they should be expelled or not.

“Gemade lost his polling unit, ward and local government area to the opposition and Shija colluded with PDP against the party,” the chair was quoted as saying.

“Shija is still in court and is working hand in hand with PDP to have Alia’s victory at the last general election quashed at the tribunal.”
