APC women persuade Jonathan’s campaign chief to dump PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) women forum has asked Ngozi Olejeme, wife of late Gordon Obuah, to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obuah, former chief security adviser (CSO) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, died at an Abuja hospital on April 13 after suffering a heart attack.

Aisha Bala, national coordinator of the group, condoled with Olejeme, the deputy chairman, finance committee, Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation.

Bala described Obuah’s death as a “very bitter pill to swallow”.

She said it was particularly sad that the incident occurred on the verge of Olejeme’s decampment to the APC.

According to her, Olejeme has a wealth of experience and achievements in the public and private sectors.

The group therefore called on Olejeme to dump the PDP which it described as a “sinking party”.

“Olejeme is in PDP, but PDP is a sinking party, so we want her with us in APC,” Bala said.

“Her records in the government organisations where she had served as chairman of board remain difficult to beat by anybody.

“For instance, at NSITF, she met only 80-member workforce when she resumed as chairman of the board but she increased the workforce to about 7000 before the board was dissolved.

“There were virtually no branch offices nationwide but she ensured that new offices were open all over the country and this jacked up revenue to government coffers.

“As chairman of Trust Fund Pension PLC, she also took that organisation to its peak in terms of growth. A similar performance was re-enacted when she was in the board of SURE–P as convener on public works/FERMA. Her grassroots polity is an added advantage to our party both in her state, Delta and at the national level.”

The group said the probe of Olojeme’s tenure by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is nothing to worry about.

It said Ngozi will come out with her reputation clean and intact, “after all she voluntarily reported herself for investigation by EFCC after her long surgery abroad”.

The group added: “We are not leaving anything to chance in getting the Former Women Power House of PDP to the change family. We shall continue to plead with her to see reasons why she needs to join the Progressive Family.”
