APC Youths commend Kwara gov over early payment of minimum wage

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, governor of Kwara state, has been commended for the payment of the minimum wage of workers.

In a statement on Friday, Integrity Forum, a platform for the All Progressives Congress (APC) youths in the state, also hailed for the recent promotions in the civil service.

They also commended the governor for his approval of the implementation of the 2015, 2016 and 2017 promotion arrears for teachers in the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

They said the steps have proven that Abdulrazaq “is a man who preoccupies himself with just making the people of the state to be happy and proud of our state once again.”

“We are very glad to receive the news from workers across the state of the surprise payment of the minimum wage effective from the end of February. It is the most inspiring development of the year so far and we are proud once again to identify with the Governor. This payment of the minimum wage is thoughtful and timely,” Mallam Babafila Abdullateef, spokesman of the group said in the statement in Ilorin.

“We believe that this is a big lift for the poor workers at this time. Having said this, we appeal to our performing Governor to quickly finalise discussions with the labour leaders on the consequential adjustments for the senior workers. We urge labour leaders and the government negotiating team to work out something that is realistic and in line with the financial status of our state but also beneficial to the workers.

“This is fantastic. We congratulate the teachers for this hugely deserving relief to them. Beyond doubt, this is another evidence that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is God-sent. He is pro-masses and he is to be trusted with people’s welfare. It is pleasantly surprising that the Governor is daily shutting the mouths of naysayers. With the payment of the minimum wage and approval for the implementation of promotion arrears, the Governor has proven that he is a friend of the workers and the poor masses.”
