The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won all the 21 chairmanship and councillorship seats in Anambra state.
On Saturday, the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) conducted elections in all the LGAs of the state.
This is the first LG election in the state since 2013.
Genevieve Osakwe, chair of ANSIEC, announced the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Awka, the state capital.

She said APGA candidates won all 21 chairmanship and councillorship positions in the state, adding that the commission carefully collated and analysed the results to ensure accuracy.
Reacting to the outcome of the result, Tony Ilechukwu, an APGA chieftain, said the party “overcame all oppositions” to secure a landslide victory.
“This is a significant victory for the party, showing that APGA is at its strongest state in Anambra,” he said.

“While other parties were in disarray and none could field candidates for up to 50% of the positions, APGA is the only party that fielded 100% of candidates for all positions, and campaigned as if its survival depended upon the election.
“The party’s success demonstrates the strong support of the Anambra electorate, reaffirming their pact with APGA.
“The election outcome is a testament to APGA’s strength at the grassroots level, with the party’s candidates emerging victorious in all 21 local government areas and 326 wards.”
