After a wonderful weekend of football and some outstanding performances, TheCable picks the best Nigerian XI.

John Noble (Enyimba)

The 27-year-old has continued to impress with excellent performances on weekly basis to justify why he should be nailed-on for a spot with the Super Eagles. He saved two Rivers United penalty kicks. Difficult to imagine if the away side would have qualified if their stopper had not been in such fine form.

Tyrone Ebuehi (Twente)

At the heart of the Twente team was Ebuehi, who made a number of sensational blocks and was also calm and composed in scoring.

Kenneth Omeruo (Leganes)

Omeruo’s defensive work was what impressed the most for Leganes. He performed well.

Leon Balogun (Rangers)

Dundee United just could not cope with the defender’s movement and manipulation of the ball as the Rangers ran riot. He accounted for an assist.

Jamilu Collins (Paderborn)

The defender had an excellent game. The left-back was always prepared to take possession of the ball and caused all sorts of problems in the wide area.

Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City)

Ndidi’s class was evidence at Aston Villa. He was everywhere and covered everywhere. The grafter was also more than prepared to help out in the defensive area.

Joe Aribo (Rangers)

It was another sensational performance from the Nigerian international at the weekend as his team recorded a big win over Dundee United. He also recorded a goal.

Frank Onyeka (Midtjylland)

Onyeka was lively for Midtjylland. He was energetic and dangerous in an advanced position.

Ademola Lookman (Fulham)

Charlton Athletic alumni Ademola Lookman scored against Sheffield United. The winger’s movement and work-rate were of a very high level at Craven Cottage.

Ike Ugbo (Cercle Brugge)

The frontman provided a brilliant out-ball for his team at the weekend and his goal proved crucial as his team took all three points.

Ibrahim Akanbi (Menemespor)

The opposition just could not live with the attacker’s excellence as he once again caused devastation in the final third with a hat-trick.
