Arinze shoots ‘black arrow’ at DG of NFVCB

Multi-talented actor and former President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Segun Arinze, does not mince his words.

He is displeased with Director General of the Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Mrs. Paricia Bala, over the board’s refusal to certify Half of a Yellow Sun for Nigerian consumption.

In fact, he wants her to resign.

“Please tell Madam Patricia Bala, the DG Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board to release the movie, Half of a Yellow Sun,” Arinze said.

“She has no reason to hold on to the movie. She has no right to censor the movie, only to classify it. She saw it in Canada and even partnered with the producers during the premiere.

“What she is doing now is an embarrassment to government and a big insult to our dear industry, Nollywood. We are not in a military regime. She should kindly resign.”

The movie adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s novel with same title premiered in Lagos on April 12, 2014, and was scheduled for release on April 25, 2014, but NFVCB impeded the process, claiming that “certain aspects of the film have some unresolved issues, which have to be sorted out in accordance with the law and laid down regulations.”
