Arsenal football club, Everton and many others have taken to social media to celebrate Nigeria as the country marks its 59th independence anniversary.
Arsenal shared a picture of Nwankwo Kanu, former Super Eagles captain, wearing the green national jersey with the north London club insignia at the background on their official Twitter handle.
The English side also adopted the pidgin English language as its mode of observing the country’s independence anniversary.
“Chei! Abeg comot for road! Today, Nigeria celebrates independence! ??Best wishes to you, Naija Gooners ??#NigeriaAt59 ??,” it wrote.

Nigerian pidgin is an English-based pidgin and creole language spoken as a lingua franca across the country.
October 1, is also a special day in the calendar of Nigeria. Fifty nine years ago, the country got her independence from Britain, her colonial masters.

Alex Iwobi’s Everton also took to Twitter to celebrate the three-time Africa Champions in an elaborate message.
