Arsenal gunned down at Liberty Stadium, Newcastle can’t stop winning

A stunning Gylfi Sigurdsson free-kick helped Swansea to a hard fought victory over Arsenal at the Liberty Stadium.

Arsenal went ahead through Alexis Sanchez after a well cut-back from Danny Welbeck inside the box. But the lead lasted only ten minutes with Sigurdsson netting a 25 yard free-kick after Modou Barrow was brought down by Keiran Gibbs.

Swansea secured all three points just three minutes later, substitute Bafetimbi Gomis heading home after a cross from Jefferson Montero.

Newcastle United’s remarkable turnaround continued with a victory at the Hawthorns.

Goals in either half from Ayoze Perez and skipper Fabio Colocinni gave the Toon Army  a 2-0 win over West Brom.

It was a fourth straight win in the league for Alan Pardew’s side, and a fifth match unbeaten.

They move up to eight on the log, an incredible feat for a team that was in the bottom three just 15 days ago.

Leighton Baines’ penalty denied Sunderland victory as Everton came from behind to claim a point in a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.

Baines converted from the spot in the 76th minute, nine minutes after Seb Larsson’s curled free-kick had looked to earn the Black Cats a second successive win after last Monday’s 3-1 win at Crystal Palace.

Larsson found the bottom left-hand corner from 25 yards out after Baines had fouled Will Buckley but a draw was a fair result.

At White Hart Lane, Nacer Chadli’s second half goal wasn’t enough as Tottenham were condemned to another surprise home defeat.

Prior to this game, Spurs had recorded just two Barclays Premier League wins from their last seven matches.

Spurs went behind after just six minutes with Bojan finding the net, before Jonathan Walters handed Mark Hughes’ side a 2-0 lead at the break.

Mauricio Pochettino brought in Erik Lamela at half-time, and Chadli’s goal had threatened to spark a revival from the hosts, before Kyle Naughton was sent off with five minutes to go – which effectively killed any hope for a comebeack.
