Arsenal came from a goal down to claim a comeback 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspurs in their English Premier League (EPL) clash on Wednesday.
The north London derby was a keenly contested encounter at the Emirates Stadium. Heung-Min Son gave Spurs the lead before scoring an own goal, but Leandro Trossard turned it around for the Gunners. All three goals came in the first half.
The visitors had the first real opportunity through Dejan Kulusevski’s shot from a poorly cleared corner kick, but David Raya saved brilliantly.
However, the Spanish goalkeeper could not stop Tottenham from taking the lead on eight minutes, Son’s deflected strike from another poorly cleared corner wrong-footed the goalkeeper for 1-0.

Arsenal have been described as boring in recent weeks amid a poor run of form and the use of set-piece to squeeze out goals, and they repeated the trick against their neighbours on 40 minutes. A floated corner-kick was nodded on by Gabriel Magalhães, hitting Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke, who deflected the ball into the net.
Mikel Arteta’s side scored from open play five minutes later when Trossard hammered an unstoppable piledriver into the net for 2-1 going into the interval.
The hosts had chances to add more gloss to the scoreline, but Kai Havertz (twice) and Rice were both denied as Arsenal saw out the match and took all three points.

Victory moves the Gunners ahead of Nottingham Forest and into second spot on the EPL log with 43 points from 21 matches, cutting Liverpool’s lead to four points but have played a game more than the Reds.
In other matches, Alexander Isak became the first Newcastle United player to score in eight consecutive league matches following a brace in the club’s 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Swedish striker’s record-setting night secured the Magpies a club-record ninth consecutive win in a row in all competitions. Eddie Howe’s side also moved into the fourth position, one point ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea.
