Arsene Wenger concludes separation from wife

Arsene Wenger, manager of Arsenal Football Club, has concluded a split from his wife, Annie Brosterhous.

This development comes, after years of speculation, regarding the state of their relationship and eventual marriage of about 5 years.

According to UK’s Daily Mirror, the Gunners chief and long term lover, are said to have agreed a financial package and divided up their assets.

“It is understood court papers filed in Wenger’s hometown of Strasbourg, France, show they have not been together since June of this year,” the paper said in its report.

“The document – known as a “séparé du corps” in French – is not a full divorce but is a legal separation which means that the couple are not legally obliged to live together”.

The 59-year-old former basketball player had been involved with Wenger for over 18 years, with plans to tie the knot in 2010, years after Wenger had referred to her as “my wife”.

In April 1997, the duo gave birth to Lea Marion Denise Wenger, their only daughter, who has not been pictured with them since 2013.

Wenger had admitted in 2008 that his job as the manager of the north London side had taken a toll and would keep taking a toll on his relationship.

“Ten years ago I said to my wife [Annie], ‘Five more years and that’s all’, and I am still here. It is difficult to find time to see them but there are jobs [which are worse]. You have guys who leave for work on Monday and come back on Friday.

“In my job I travel, but the problem is not so much the quantity of time you spend with your family, it is the quality.

“That is where this job is more damaging. You do not always give them the quality they deserve when you are at home because you are thinking of the next game.”

Since its establishment in 1886, Wenger, who took his current job in 1996, is the longest serving and most successful coach at Arsenal.
