The Nigerian has never won against Zhendong, the 2021 finals champion.
Aruna also fell at the quarter-final stage of the tournament in 2021.
The Oyo state indigene, ranked 14th in the world, had earlier come from two games down to overcome Brazilian Hugo Calderano in the first round of the 16-man tournament.

Aruna, who recently retained the 2023 ITTF African Championships men’s singles title, was the only African player at the tournament.
