Amusa wins first medal for Nigeria in Asaba

Oluwatobiloba Amusan has won the first medal for Nigeria at the ongoing Africa Athletics Championships in Asaba, Delta state.

Amusan’s medal came in the women’s 100m hurdles event on Thursday.

The Commonwealth champions won the gold medal in a time of 12.86 seconds.

South Africa’s Rickenette Steenkamp won silver in a time of 13.18 seconds while Ivorian sprinter Rosvitha Okou took the bronze medal in 13:39 seconds.

Amusan is competing in her first senior Africa Athletics Championships.

She has now won four gold medals for Nigeria after her previous successes at the 2015 African Junior Championships, African Games in Brazzaville, and the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
