Asiwaju, act before APC Lagos goes bananas

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s influence on All Progressive Congress (APC) and its emergent as the ruling party in Nigeria is visible to the blind. Though there may be some levels of imperfections,  which is normal within human and political environment. Everyone knows Asiwaju’s ambition was sacrificed in the face of political necessity during the last presidential election. His determination and sacrifices had helped In making the party the ruling party in Lagos state for a long while. But what we noticed now is that the party structure in Lagos is collapsing and the cracks in the walls may soon become so huge the centre would no longer be able to hold.

Let me begin I am not a politician and I do not carry any political membership card for as long as I know In my adult’s life. Neither do I have a candidate I am working for as a media and communications professional amongst the crops of the present local governments office aspirants of APC in Lagos. I am just concerned about your legacy which you need to attend to as  fast as possible for posterity sake. If the present situations continue while you are still alive, what happens In the future? I watched the APC’s  local government party primaries which held  in Surulere yesterday on the TV and I could but but shake my head in sorrow. APC is adjudged to be a  democratic party people are looking up to to deliver Nigerians from the present quagmire,  though that hope is gradually been erased but there is still an element within its operations.

The major issue which led to the free for all fight as we later confirmed has to do with the earlier rumour we already heard that the party leadership  at the state level in a meeting which held in Acme Lagos some weeks ago wanted 18 former chairmen to return unopposed to base. One wonders where that could be considered a democratic process? Asiwaju, what I knew so well is your ability to get the right man for the job at the State Governor’s level. But unfortunately at the critical level of government, which is local government, Lagosians had  been under a curse for many years except for few.

Most of your ‘boys’ at the local government level see no need for good governance by upholding the principle of change and benefits of democracy which you and APC preached. So when we heard the party top level executive wanted 18 out of the former chairmen to be returned unopposed in the coming election, we thought it was a joke. But everything seems to be following that script.

Asiwaju, all you need do is visit pay visit to most of the  local governments and see the  levels of decadence. Most local governments celebrated achievements are projects of State governments. Though some have ‘huge elephant projects’ on paper without a reality on the ground. For instance,  the local government area where I live,  many of the roads have been  so bad and not suitable for smooth driving for as long as I know. This is upward of about eight years. The effect on  motor owners is so huge many of them must visit their mechanics every  seven days. Yet we see  and heard rumours of personal projects of some of these new chairmen springing up: houses, new cars etc. Some of them were rumoured to have turned  state purse into family purses. There may be a few exceptions but just do your research. The present situation which led to a free for all  fight is that many are ‘playing the card you wanted all the chairmen  returned’ come what may. If this is true, which we know may not be,  there is a need for an urgent redress to keep a legacy and clarify your position for posterity sake. Asiwaju, if things continue this way, God forbid anything happens to you, the structure you have laboured for  will collapse like a house on a bad foundation.

Remember Alhaji Adedibu in Ibadan, he was a force in Ibadan, Oyo State then, but today no one could trace his structure  as new powerhouse has sprung up. I know you may be much more enlightened but  what is the benefit of an advantage that is not maximized? Time to thing about legacy and posterity as the house of APC gradually in Lagos is gradually going down south. I know many may argue disagreement is part of Politics but hey, not the kind we are witnessing today. I knew some of your hawks will not see reason and may do  rejoinder as quickly as possible to present a front but for your own posterity and legacy sake, Asiwaju please do act now.
