The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) says it has redeemed its N5 billion pledge to the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) presidential library fund.
Abdul Rabiu, founder and chairman of ASR Africa, made the pledge during the fundraising drive at the launch of Babangida’s autobiography, ‘A Journey in Service’, in Abuja on Thursday.
”The pledge was successfully redeemed today, February 21, 2025, ensuring that work can begin immediately on this landmark institution,” a statement by the inititive on Friday, reads.
ASR Africa described the library as an important resource for scholars, leaders, and Nigerians seeking to understand the country’s history.

“History is not just a record of the past, it is a blueprint for the future. The IBB Presidential Library will serve as a vital resource for scholars, leaders, and all Nigerians seeking to understand the decisions and events that shaped our country,” the statement added.
The organisation commended Babangida for his vision in setting up the library, while acknowledging President Bola Tinubu for his remarks at the event.
With the funds secured, ASR Africa said it looks forward to seeing the library “take shape as a lasting legacy for future generations”.
