The Kaduna chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is not involved in the alleged assassination attempt on Senator Lawal Usman.
On January 1, the senator representing Kaduna central reportedly escaped an assassination attempt while visiting his constituency for the New Year celebration.
The PDP had subsequently accused the APC of complicity and called for an investigation of the incident.
Reacting in a statement on Saturday, Kaduna APC described the accusation as “false and absurd”.

Yahaya Pate, the Kaduna APC secretary, said the police disclosed that the senator was yet to file a formal complaint or cooperate with the authorities.
“Despite repeated attempts by the police to reach him, he remains unresponsive. It is, therefore, baffling how the PDP arrived at its baseless conclusion implicating the APC in this alleged incident,” the statement reads.
“Failure to do so would lend credence to suspicions that the alleged assassination attempt is nothing more than a fabrication aimed at maligning the APC, creating unnecessary tension, and derailing the peace and progress currently enjoyed in Kaduna state.

“The APC strongly suspects that certain conflict entrepreneurs are using the PDP to disrupt the remarkable strides achieved under the peace initiatives of Senator Uba Sani’s people-focused and inclusive administration.”
The APC urged the senator to cooperate with the police while reiterating the Uba Sani administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy in the state
The party also called the PDP to fulfil its role as a constructive opposition party, adding that “no amount of false narratives will derail the state’s path to progress”.
“The PDP in Kaduna State has developed a troubling reputation for issuing ill-conceived and patently false statements, undermining the seriousness of public discourse,” APC said.

“This reckless behaviour highlights the party’s deteriorating standards, with critical matters being handled without due diligence or proper scrutiny.”
The party said Sani’s government will not be “distracted by baseless allegations or needless provocations”.
