The federal capital territory (FCT) police command says it will apply “fairness and professionalism” in the investigation of alleged assault involving Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
Umar was caught on video as he stepped out of his car at Banex Plaza, Wuse 2, Abuja, hitting a security guard who had told him his vehicle was parked in the wrong space.
In his defence, Ibraheem Al-Hassan, CCT spokesperson, said the security man was rude and could not provide a reasonable explanation why Umar should not park in the said space.
Al-Hassan also said the guard had threatened Umar.

The 22-year-old guard was who spoke with TheCable from the hospital where he was receiving treatment for the wounds he sustained, said the CCT chairman had threatened to jail him.
Reacting to the incident, the FCT police command in a statement issued by Mariam Yusuf, police spokesperson, said discreet investigations are ongoing.
“Following the incident of alleged assault involving the CCT chairman and a security guard that occurred at Bannex Plaza on Monday, March 29, 2021, the command wishes to state categorically that discreet investigation is still ongoing,” the statement read.

“Hence, the commissioner of police, CP Bala Ciroma wishes to reassure members of the public that the command will be professional, fair and thorough in its investigation
“Furthermore, the command urges residents to remain calm and allow the law take its cause.”
