L-R: Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has led a delegation to visit Muhammadu Buhari, the former president, at his residence in Kaduna state.
Among those who accompanied Atiku on the visit were Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna; Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Sokoto; Isa Pantami, former minister of communications; Achike Udenwa, former governor of Imo; Gabriel Suswam, former governor of Benue; and Jibrilla Bindow, former governor of Adamawa.
In a post on X, Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, described the meeting as pleasant.
The former vice-president said his visit was delayed due to his obligations in Adamawa, where he had taken part in Sallah celebrations.

“As the Waziri Adamawa, I was obligated to be in Adamawa during the Sallah celebrations,” Atiku wrote on Friday.
“I held forth for the Lamido Fombina (Adamawa) in some of the activities of the Sallah celebrations.
“Today, I had the opportunity to pay a post-Sallah visit to His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2015-2023.

“It was a wonderful time with him. As usual, he cracked me up (to the extent that my ribs were hurting) with his peculiar humour.”
While the purpose or outcome of the visit was not disclosed, it came days after Buhari hosted a separate delegation of governors elected under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo state.
Uzodimma, who also chairs the Progressives Governors Forum, said their visit was to extend Sallah greetings and congratulate Buhari on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
