Atiku ‘shows face’ at PDP secretariat

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Wadata Plaza, the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

He had on Sunday announced his return to the opposition party, days after he defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abubakar, who was accompanied by some party members including Ben Murray Bruce, senator representing Bayelsa east, and some party supporters, was received by Ahmed Makarfi, chairman of the PDP caretaker committee and other party leaders.

He urged other defectors to return and help build the party.

“All what I have come to do today is to come and show my face. Many people have read in the media that I have returned home. This is the home,” Abubakar said.

“Mr Chairman, I want to congratulate you for a wonderful work which you have been doing to redeem the image of this party, to redeem it, rebrand it and return it to its original form.

“I want to assure you of my support and cooperation at all times, to make sure that these objectives are achieved by you and subsequently by your successors.”
