Atiku youth connect, a support group of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has alleged that some members of All Progressives Congress (APC) are behind the crisis in the PDP.
Hassana Dada, national coordinator of the group, said this on Monday at a media briefing in Abuja.
There is division in the PDP over calls for Iyorchia Ayu to step down as national chairman of the party.
Those calling for Ayu’s resignation include Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, and his allies, who have said the party’s national chairman and presidential candidate cannot be from the same region.

However, Abubakar has said he cannot force Ayu to resign.
Speaking at the media briefing on Monday, the group urged the leadership of the PDP to fish out “APC elements” in the party.
“We can confirm without any iota of equivocation that the ruling APC and its candidate are scared of our party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and have been working to cause disunity within our ranks before the 2023 general election,” Dada said.

“This is time for house cleaning. Our party leaders and members at all levels must begin some work to purge the house of all APC elements in the party.
“The party must take the bold step at this time. A situation where party leaders are arming opposition party with damaging messages is totally unacceptable.
“The APC is threatened by the resolve of well-meaning Nigerians who are working with our party to vote out the failed APC in 2023, and are working to remain in power at all costs.”
