Ben Murray-Bruce, senator representing Bayelsa east, says the investments of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar could be further targeted.
The lawmaker said this in reaction to the defection of Abubakar from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abubakar announced his defection in a statement on Friday, saying he took the decision after consulting “God, his family members and supporters”.
Bruce, who described his action as courageous, appealed to him to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), “the house he helped to build. I congratulate @Atiku for leaving the APC. It took courage especially as he has wide business investments that are already targets and could be further targeted. I, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, now appeal to Waziri Adamawa, to return to the house he helped build, the PDP,” the lawmaker wrote on Twitter.

In October, the federal government terminated the pilotage agreement between the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Integrated Logistics Services (Intels), a logistics and facilities services provider, co-founded by Abubakar.
On November 15, the federal government also revoked the resident permit of Intels’ expatriate staff, though it said there was nothing political in the move.
In his defection note, Atiku accused the current administration of being draconian.

Although he did not reveal his next political move, he said would “take time to ponder my future”.
