Ayo Adebanjo to Osinbajo: You goofed by asking Nigerians to live like Americans

Ayo Adebanjo, a leader of Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-political organisation, has‎ flayed Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for citing the unity in multicultural US as an example of how Nigerians should live together.

Speaking at the Biafra conference in Abuja on Thursday, Osinbajo said Nigerians were greater together than apart.

He cited how the US with its diverse people and cultures had been able to evolve to become the greatest country on the planet.

But in his presentation, Adebanjo said American citizens were not forced to live together.

“The question of Biafra is not about separation, the question is how we want to live in peace on agreed terms. Anybody opposed to restructuring is an enemy of Nigeria,” he said.

“‎The acting president gave a wrong synopsis of living together, he cited America. Americans sat together to discuss their existence‎.”

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Ahmed Joda, former permanent secretary, information, education and industry; John Nwodo, president of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo; Jacqueline Farris, director-general of the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre; and Dubem Onyia, a member of the Yar’Adua Foundation, were among the dignitaries at the event.
