Azemhe Azena, the regional pastor of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM), has won the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) primary election for the Edo governorship election.
Azena scored 211 votes to beat three other aspirants in the primary election, which was organised on Friday in Benin city, the Edo state capital.
Kawu Sumaila, a senator representing Kano south senatorial district, who is the returning officer of the committee, announced Azena as the winner of the primary election.
Sumaila said Peter Okieguale polled second with 100 votes; Sebastian Iyere and Balogun Engeyemhe polled 25 votes and 17 votes, respectively.

The senator said Azena fulfilled the requirements of the party’s constitution.
Azena is the regional pastor of OFM in the south-south region.
He was born on December 25, 1979, in Okpella, a town in Edo state.

He hails from Okpekpe in Etsako-east LGA in Edo north senatorial district.
The Edo governorship election has been slated for September 21, 2024.
