Babajide Agunbiade, Alpha Energy CEO, appointed to Mobihealth board of directors

Babajide Agunbiade, a Houston-based oil and gas veteran, has joined the board of directors of Mobihealth, a telemedicine and digital health service provider.

Agunbiade is a leading offshore production expert, according to a statement announcing his appointment.

Speaking on his appointment, Agunbiade expressed joy at joining the Nigerian healthcare firm.

“On the global healthcare index, Nigeria’s healthcare ranks as one of the five worst in the world,” he said.

“The health industry is in such dire straits that thousands of doctors have moved abroad in search of better working conditions.

“With nearly 200 million people, MobiHealth is positioned to provide healthcare solutions for a huge customer base on a long and sustained basis.”

On her part, Funmi Adewara, the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Mobihealth said it was “a great honour and privilege to have Dr. Agunbiade bring his decades of experience and influence to help Mobihealth succeed in our next growth phase.”

She added that his broad expertise, accomplishments, and influence will be invaluable to the board.  

AN ASTUTE INVESTOR, BUSINESSMAN

Agunbiade is a savvy engineer, investor, and businessman. He is the CEO of Alpha Energy Resources, a diversified conglomerate with interests in offshore production and mining.

He is also a former executive director of Houston-based National Oilwell Varco, an oilfield equipment manufacturing company.

In that capacity, he completed over $2 billion worth of offshore production projects in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, and sub-saharan Africa.

Agunbiade is a fellow of the Nigerian Society Of Engineers, a fellow of the Institute Of Industrial and Systems Engineers, as well as a fellow of the Society Of Underwater Technologies.

He is one of the 13 subject matter experts in subsea production systems who are globally recognised as of 2022.

A United Nations sustainable development goal (SDG) ambassador, Agunbiade is passionate about high social impact ventures and has “followed Mobihealth’s impressive journey for the past couple of years with keen interest”.
