Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun state, has approved the appointment of Babatunde Jolaoso as the 10th substantive rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta.
Yemi Ajibola, the head of public relations and protocol at MAPOLY, confirmed this on Wednesday.
He said the appointment takes effect on December 6.
Ajibola said the appointment was communicated through a letter dated December 3, signed by Abayomi Arigbabu, the state’s commissioner for education.

Jolaoso is expected to succeed Adeoye Odedeji, whose five-year tenure as rector ends on December 5.
Odedeji has served since 2019.
Jolaoso has been a chief lecturer in the department of architecture since 2015.

He has been part of the polytechnic’s staff since 1982 when he joined as a laboratory assistant.
An alumnus of the institution, Jolaoso earned both his national diploma and higher national diploma in architecture with upper credit from Ogun State Polytechnic (now MAPOLY).
He furthered his education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in architecture between 1989 and 1994.
Jolaoso is a member of the Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria and an Incorporated Member of the Chartered Institution of Building (UK).

He boasts 78 publications and four research projects to his name and is fluent in English, Yoruba, and Hausa.
Ajibola said his professional background is expected to bring a wealth of experience to MAPOLY as he takes on this leadership role.
