The Advocacy for Justice and Good Governance (AJGG), a civil society organisation (CSO), has upbraided politicians who threaten the judicial arm of government after losing election litigations.
In a statement on Saturday, Francis Nzeoke, AJGG’s coordinator, said it is increasingly becoming a norm and a “bad omen” for the country’s democracy.
“We are worried about the turn of events in recent times where politicians lose cases in the court and resort to dishing out threats on justices,” Nzeoke said.
“It is a bad omen for our democracy and the rule of law.”

He said the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) must take appropriate disciplinary measures against erring members.
Nzeoke added that some politicians in Kano have been making provocative comments in the media lately.
The election petitions tribunal in Kano, and recently the court of appeal, sacked Abba Yusuf as the governor of Kano.

The governor has filed an appeal at the supreme court and has expressed confidence in winning the case.
