Umar Bago, governor of Niger, has approved the payment of N20,000 in wage award to civil servants in the state.
Bago gave the approval on Wednesday during an executive council meeting at the government house in Minna, the state capital.
He said the government will commence distribution on Wednesday and all civil servants would start receiving alerts soon.
During the flag off of the agricultural mechanisation project in Minna, Tinubu urged state governments to commence payment of wage award to workers in order to cushion the impact of the economic hardship on citizens.

“Let all the states start paying the wage awards. Whatever they are taking now plus the wage award would relieve the public,” Tinubu said.
“Please, I am not giving an order. I am appealing to you states; start paying the wage awards. Let everyone start paying it. It is a relief to the people.”
The governor added that the state will also commence distribution of 120 trucks of grains, and feeding of citizens across wards, during the Ramadan period.
