Bala Mohammed, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors’ forum, says the party will reclaim all leadership positions currently occupied by other parties.

Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi, spoke in Enugu on Wednesday at the forum’s meeting.

On Tuesday, governors elected on the platform of the PDP arrived in Enugu for a meeting ahead of the off-cycle governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states.

The Bauchi governor said the sit-down by members of the forum was to strategise and share ideas on advancing the party and the nation.

“Today we are here to unify ourselves, discuss issues that affect the party, and discuss various matters within ourselves,” he said.

“Our agenda will go through governance across party administration, discuss inter-party affairs, congress, and other things we need to do to provide a credible alternative to Nigerians.”

The governor said the PDP would not allow Nigeria to slide into anarchy because of its shared history and aspirations for the country.

“It is high time the party reclaimed its leadership position in all the states that are currently being occupied by other parties,” he said.

The forum chairman commended Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu, for organising a successful meeting and ensuring their comfort since their arrival on Tuesday.

The governors in attendance were Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Umo Eno (Akwa-Ibom), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Ahmed Fintiri (Adamawa).

In February, Mohammed said the PDP was ready to provide Nigerians with a better alternative.

He also urged members of the party to close ranks and be strategic in preventing Nigeria from being a one-party state.
