‘Bandit kingpin’ Ibrahim Daji killed in Zamfara

Ibrahim Daji, a “notorious bandit leader”, has been killed in Kwanar Nasir, Gusau LGA of Zamfara state.

Zagazola Makama, a publication that focuses on counter-insurgency in the Lake Chad region, said Daji was allegedly slain on Sunday by members of a rival faction, who subsequently left his body at the scene.

Daji gained notoriety for his involvement in various criminal activities, particularly for orchestrating violent assaults along the Kwatarkwashi-Mada road, and in nearby areas.

His stronghold was in Shangel village, situated to the east of Mada town.

He was also infamous for reportedly purchasing kidnapped individuals within Gusau, which solidified his control over the region’s criminal networks.

Besides leading violent attacks, he was reported to have sheltered other criminal elements such as Bello Taggoje, in his home in Shangel village.

Daji was said to command a significant number of followers.

Zagazola added that Daji’s death represents a crucial advancement in the battle against banditry in the state, as he was regarded as a pivotal figure within the region’s network of armed criminals.
