A suspected bandit kingpin identified as Abu Radde has surrendered to security forces in Katsina state.
The bandit also released 10 kidnapped victims as part of a reported peace accord facilitated by security agencies and local authorities.
Citing intelligence sources, Zagazola Makama, a security publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said Radde surrendered alongside his foot soldiers.
Zagazola reported on Saturday that the bandits approached security officials seeking dialogue and reconciliation through non-kinetic means.

According to the report, a meeting was convened at Kwari Village Primary School in Jibia LGA, where stakeholders engaged in discussions with the armed group, after which they agreed to lay down their arms to accept peace.
During the meeting, the bandits handed over two AK-47 rifles to the military as a demonstration of their commitment to peace.
The report noted that the ten abducted persons who were released were immediately taken to a general hospital for medical evaluation.

The repentant bandits also pledged to release more victims and vowed to halt attacks on communities within the local government area.
