Banditry has reduced by 70% in Katsina, says Dikko Radda

Dikko Radda, governor of Katsina, says his administration has reduced banditry in the state to about 70 percent in the past year.

Speaking with journalists on Saturday during a visit to Yola, Adamawa capital, Dikko said the “decline in banditry” was achieved due to the “robust synergy” between security operatives.

He said despite the reduction in banditry, the gunmen have devised a new strategy of attacking difficult-to-access areas in the state.

He said the state has implemented measures to tackle attacks in remote areas, adding that incorporating state police will address the situation.

“It is high time to have state police included in the fight against insecurity in the country,” NAN quoted Radda as saying.

“We have reduced the rate of banditry to about 60 to 70 percent. What we are witnessing now is the crazy approach by the bandits going to hard-to-reach villages close to forests, burning houses and killing people.

“We have developed strategies to fight it.”

The governor called on governments at all levels to prioritise the education sector to achieve development in the country.

“This will give opportunity to the less privileged, to access quality education at all levels,” he added.
