Two worshippers were killed on Saturday when bandits attacked a mosque during Ramadan prayer (Taraweeh) in Mairuwa village, Faskari LGA of Katsina.

Confirming the attack to TheCable on Sunday, Abubakar Aliyu, police spokesperson in Katsina, said the incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m.

Aliyu said the bandits attacked the mosque and also attempted to abduct residents but were resisted by the people.

“What happened was that the bandits attacked the village under Faskari local government around 8:35 pm yesterday.  You know that is the time the Muslim faithful usually hold their Taraweeh prayer,” he said.
