Bandits have reportedly abducted 55 persons who were escorting a bride to her matrimonial home along Damari town in Sabuwa LGA of Katsina state.
Channels Television reports that the incident occurred around 8 pm on Thursday.
Three vigilantes were also said to have lost their lives in an attempt to prevent the abduction.
Abubakar Aliyu-Musa, commissioner of police in Katsina, and Abubakar Aliyu, spokesperson of the Katsina police command, did not immediately respond to requests for comments.

There have been a spate of abductions for ransom across Nigeria in recent times. Gunmen have also masterminded a raft of killings in some states, as insecurity envelops Africa’s most populous nation.
Gunmen have killed monarchs in Ekiti and Kwara states in the last couple of weeks.
