Armed bandits have killed at least 10 people in five villages in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state.
The bandits were said to have struck around 5pm on Thursday, shooting and burning down house in the process.
The incident happened less than three days after Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, gave his men a three-week ultimatum to “flush out” bandits from the area.
In a statement, Birnin Gwari Vanguard for security and good governance, said the residents of the five villages affected in the latest attack were in dire need of aid.

The attack was said to have lasted for three hours.
“The bandits burnt houses and grains and food stuff of the affected villages,” the statement read.
“The affected villages need of aid, such as food, shelter and clothes.”

The group commended the federal government and security agencies for steps taken to address the security challenges in the area and called for more deployment of troops and special police.
Efforts to reach the Aliyu Mukhtar, spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, were unsuccessful as he did not responding to phone calls and text message at the time of this report.
