The Zamfara state police command has confirmed the death of 10 persons in an attack in Birnin-Magaji local government area of the state.
Muhammad Shehu, spokesman of the command, said the suspects attacked Dutsen-Wake and Oho villages at about 10pm on Tuesday.
Addressing journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, Shehu said the police “quickly responded” to an alert from residents concerning the attack.
He also said a police team led by the divisional police officer of Birnin-Magaji division was immediately mobilised to the scene of the attack.

“When they arrived the area the bandits had already fled to Rugu forest bordering Zamfara with Katsina state,” he said.
“They discovered 10 dead bodies killed by the bandits, Seven in Dutsen-Wake and Three in Oho village.”
The police spokesman added that nomalcy has been restored in the area, while the command was collaborating with its Katsina counterpart to track the perpetrators of the attack

Zamfara has experienced series of attacks this year alone, usually by suspected bandits.
This prompted Abdulaziz Yari, the state governor, to ask security agents to shoot and kill anyone caught carrying firearms illegally in the state.
