The Zamfara police command says bandits have killed four police officers in Bungudu LGA of the state.
The police officers were killed at a checkpoint along Gusau-Bungudu road during a midnight attack by the bandits.
Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson of the Zamfara police command, confirmed the incident to TheCable.
“The incident happened in Bungudu local government area. Four police officers were killed,” Abubakar said.

Ibrahim Bungudu, a resident of the community, said the bandits also shot one person at Tagero village, under Furfuri district of Bungudu LGA.
He said several cattle belonging to the residents of Tagero village were rustled by the bandits.
“The bandits ambushed the police along Gusau-Bungudu road close to Nabature company and killed four. They also rustled many cattle at Tagero village under Furfuri district. One person was shot in the hand in the village,” Channels Television quoted Bungudu as saying.

The development comes weeks after operatives of the Zamfara police command killed two bandits along Gusau-Tsafe road.
On April 9, operatives of the Zamfara police repelled an attack by bandits on Tsafe LGA.
Two bandits were killed while others escaped with bullet wounds.
