Two officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have been killed by bandits in Kebbi state.
Ahmed Idris, chief press secretary (CPS) to the governor of Kebbi, said the bandits attacked the officers while on a patrol along Dakingari to Koko road.
Idris said the officers identified as Abdullahi Mohammed and A.K Shehu, were killed at about 1:30 am on Thursday.
“The suspected bandits, after attacking the team on patrol, carted away one of the deceased’s rifles, AK-47,” he said in a statement.

Speaking after the funeral prayer at Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi, Nasir Idris, governor of the state, condemned the incident and described it as pathetic.
The governor who was represented by Yakubu Bala-Tafida, secretary to the state government (SSG), prayed for the deceased and assured that temporary support would be provided to their families.
“On behalf of the Kebbi state government, we wish to tender our condolences to the immediate families and the Nigeria Customs Service,” he said.

“We urge you to accept what happened in good faith as nobody will live beyond his/her destined time. May Allah forgive their shortcomings.”
The governor urged security agencies in the state to intensify efforts towards eradicating banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
