Bandits killed captain, two soldiers in Katsina, says senator

Muntari Dandutse, senator representing Katsina south, says bandits killed a captain and two soldiers in the Sabo area of the state on Thursday.

Dandutse spoke on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday after a motion on personal explanation.

The senator said on February 21, 16 people were abducted, adding that the various security agencies should intensify efforts to protect lives and property in his constituency.

“The security agencies need to intensify efforts to protect lives and property. Bandits killed a captain and two officers on Thursday in Sabo,” he said.

The senator lamented that the attacks were occurring despite the presence of security agencies in the communities.

“These unfortunate incidents are happening intermittently despite the presence of security agencies,” he added.

“If urgent steps to tackle the security challenges are not taken, the peace loving people of this community will not be able to undertake farming activities.

“These developments if not checked will result in the proliferation of small arms for self-defence.”

Thereafter, the senate held a one-minute silence in honour of those killed in the attacks.

It also urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief materials to all those affected by the attacks.
