Baraje commends his boys for Fed Cup victory

Zachary Baraje, head coach of Akwa United, is full of commendation for his players for their 2-1 triumph over Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi in the final of the 2015 Federation Cup on Sunday.

The win means that Akwa United clinched their first ever Federation Cup title.

Akwa held possession from the beginning to the end of the game, but conceded a late minute goal to Lobi (pictured).

Baraje, who expressed joy with the team’s first ever Federation Cup, said the players performance during the encounter was exceptional.

“It is a very great feeling to win the Federation Cup; I must commend the players and my crew members for putting out a good performance today,” he said.

“With this win, I can say it has been an incredible season for us and we have more to come in the forthcoming season.”

Justin Tenger, the chief coach of Lobi Stars, said it was a good game but regretted his team’s loss.

“I believe we played well but in the game of football, you win some and then you lose some,” he said.

“Our players did a fantastic job but it was unfortunate that we lost.”
