“FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski, dependent on the player passing a medical and contracts being signed,” the statement read.

The 33-year-old had been pushing for a move to Barcelona. He had also reportedly rejected approaches from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Lewandowski, who came into limelight from Borussia Dortmund, has spent the last seven years at Bayern Munich where he scored 344 goals in 375 matches.

His goals supplied the finishing touch for Bayern Munich’s all-conquering side that won a treble, including the UEFA Champions League in 2020.
