Barcelona crush PSG to achieve greatest Champions League comeback

Barcelona on Wednesday overturned a 4-0 deficit to send Paris Saint-Germain out of the UEFA Champions League with three goals in the final minutes at Camp Nou.

Luis Enrique’s men surmounted the seemingly impossible task to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Blaugrana who hosted PSG knew they had to produce one of the most memorable nights in the club’s history to remain in the competition – and they did.

The Barcelona team registered its intent early on as Luis Suarez headed in his side’s first goal in the second minute of the match.

Barcelona scored a scruffy second goal in the 40th minute through André Iniesta’s relentless drive which saw the ball bounce off three PSG players into the goalpost.

Lionel Messi scored from the spot in the 50th minute to make it 3-0 in Barca’s favour.

PSG, largely subdued, attempted to muster a comeback.

Their main man, Edin Cavani rifled a half-volley into the roof of the net to give his team a precious away goal in the 62nd minute.

He, however, lost an opportunity to score another goal and lead his team to safety .

As the game wound down to an end, Barcelona was still fighting tooth and nail.

An incredible free-kick from Neymar from about 30 yards gave Barca the fourth goal in the 87th minute.

Neymar scored from the penalty spot to make it 5-1 in the 90th minute.

At this point, it was all square on aggregate scores but PSG had the edge on away goals.

In injury time, Camp Nou erupted in unbridled joy as Sergi Roberto scored the goal that got Barca through to the quarter-finals.

The victory was the greatest comeback in the history of the Champions League.
